Montgomery, AL – The state Senate has approved a bill that would recognize two victims when a pregnant woman is assaulted or killed. It's being called the Brody Bill, and the Senate passed it unanimously after adding amendments to make sure the bill does not affect legal abortions or women who have miscarriages. Representative Frank McDaniel says the bill would bring Alabama in line with 32 other states that grant victim's rights for both a pregnant woman and the fetus. The bill will have to go back to the House so lawmakers can approve the changes made in the Senate. It is expected to get quick approval. Governor Bob Riley has indicated he will sign it.
