Russell County School Officials Indicted

By Alabama Public Radio

Russell County AL – The principal and three special education teachers at Russell County Middle School face charges after being accused of failing to report a crime. Principal Larry Don Screws and teachers Jessie Horn, Carol Gaddy and Agnes Maria Kariuki turned themselves in to local authorities this week. This, after a female special education student told several teachers she had been abused while at school. State law requires teachers and school officials to report even a suspicion that a child has been a victim of abuse or neglect. The Alabama Education Association is representing at least two of the teachers.
