Alabama – Alabama's cities and counties have the chance to decide if they also want to declare a sales-tax holiday ... much like the holiday state lawmakers declared to help families with back to school costs. Currently, shoppers won't pay the 4-percent state sales tax during three days in early August. But local governments get to decide what to do with their tax revenues. The Alabama League of Municipalities says it will inform cities about the details of the sales tax holiday law, but it's unknown how many will take part. This year's state sales tax holiday will be on August 4th, 5th and 6th.
