Riley Going To White House

By Alabama Public Radio

Washington DC – Governor Bob Riley is heading to the White House tomorrow to talk with President Bush about line-item veto power he is seeking. Alabama law grants Riley a limited version of the line-item veto, which allows the governor to eliminate sections of bills approved by the Legislature. Any veto can be overidden by a simple majority of state legislators. Republican governors from Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Colorado and Virginia will join Riley in the discussion.
