Alabamians Unhappy with Illegal Immigration

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile AL – A new poll indicates that most Alabamians are not happy with how President Bush is handling immigration issues. 64 percent of poll respondents rated Bush's job performance on illegal immigration as ``only fair'' or ``poor.'' The poll also shows 55 percent of Alabamians favor fencing the border and 56 percent said they would support an effort to identify and deport all illegal immigrants back to their home countries. 31 percent would be opposed to that measure. Only two out of five people polled thought that hiring illegal immigrants should be a felony. The poll was commissioned by the Press-Register and the University of South Alabama. It was conducted June 5th through the 8th, and has a margin of error of five percentage points.
