Washington, DC – All seven members of Alabama's U-S House delegation voted Tuesday to support a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. However, the vote was 236 to 187. That fell short of the two-thirds majority needed to approve a constitutional amendment. Some of those who support the ban on gay marriage say it is up to Congress to override the actions of judges around the country who have ruled in favor of gay marriages. Opponents, though, say the measure was meaningless because the Senate had already rejected it.
