Monroeville Death Row Inmate Commits Suicide

By Alabama Public Radio

Atmore, AL – The adopted son of a Monroeville couple convicted of killing them committed suicide in his cell Saturday night. Timothy Jason Jones was sentenced to death last year for killing his adoptive parents in 2004 after they refused to allow him to borrow a family vehicle. The couple, Dr. Tim and Nancy Jones, were beaten and stabbed to death at the family's home. Jones was captured in north Alabama during a police chase in Russellville. Jones was discovered alone in his cell by an officer and taken to the prison health clinic then to Atmore Community Hospital.
