Washington, DC – The Senate passed a bill that calls for building 700 miles of double-layered fencing along the southern border. The vote was 94-0. Last month, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions won an amendment to a defense appropriations bill to spend roughly two (b) billion dollars on the project. The bill is part of a congressional Republican emphasis on national security they hope will help in the upcoming elections. The House last week passed the fencing bill, even though it had been part of a larger bill approved late last year.
