State Now Taking Online Teaching Applications

By Associated Press

Mobile, AL – Would-be teachers in Alabama no longer need to fill out a paper application when seeking a job.

The state has launched a new Web site where teachers can apply online for jobs in any of the state's 131 public school systems. The site is called "Teach in Alabama."

The site makes it easier to apply for multiple jobs. It's one of several measures the state plans to take to combat a statewide teaching shortage.

The state's coordinator of teacher recruitment, Debra Williams, says about 150 people already have posted their applications online.

The Web site is located at www.alsde.edu/teachinalabama.
