Busy Week for State Troopers

Undated, AL – Tuesday was another busy day for Alabama state troopers participating in the week long ''Take Back Our Highways'' safety campaign.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, there were more than 5,700 traffic tickets issued. They include:

- 2,445 tickets for speeding
- 20 individuals cited for DUI
- 156 motorists ticketed for tailgating or following too closely
- 60 cited for improper lane changes
- 1 thousand tickets for seat belt and or child restraint violations

There no traffic fatalities across the state Tuesday, although 32 people were injured in vehicular accidents.

On Monday, the department said troopers handed out almost 5,600 traffic citations. The two day total comes to almost 12 thousand traffic tickets.
