Huntsville, AL – In an attempt to relieve overcrowding at the metro jail, Huntsville may reopen its long-closed municipal jail.
Department of Public Safety Director Rex Reynolds said today that city officials have inspected the old jail to determine its suitability, The Huntsville Times reported.
But he stressed that there has been no decision to reopen it yet.
Reynolds said the city jail, which was shut down in the 1990s, could hold up to 70 inmates.
