AL Power Urges Boater Caution Due To Low Lake Levels

By Associated Press

Alabama – Alabama Power is warning boaters to use caution over the upcoming Labor Day Holiday Weekend. The utility, in a statement, said critically low water levels at six of its managed lakes have created dangerous conditions.

The company said as lake levels continue to fall, some piers and boat docks are unusable. Boaters should make sure they access to a usable boat launch.

Alabama Power's six reservoirs are: Weiss, Neely Henry, Logan Martin, Harris, Martin and Smith Lakes. Due to the drought, the company said the waterways have already reached winter pool levels, which are not normally seen until December.
