Demonstrators Mass in Support of Jena Six

Thousands of demonstrators are marching in Jena, La. They're supporting six black teenagers who are charged with beating a white classmate.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who organized the event, described the protests as the beginning of the 21st century civil rights movement.

Christopher Harvey, a political science student at Texas Southern University, says the teens should be held accountable for attacking their classmate. But it is up to the criminal justice system to treat the teens fairly, including Michael Bell, who has been incarcerated since December, despite a state appeals court overturning his conviction.

Harvey talks about the case and the protest with Madeleine Brand.
