The Colorado Rockies are going to the World Series for the first time in the team's history, after completing a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday night.
Twice in the closing days of the regular season, the Rockies were one or two outs from elimination. The San Diego Padres had the edge for the remaining wild-card bid in the playoffs, but the Padres faded and the Rockies got hot. The team has won 21 of its last 22 games, including an undefeated streak in post-season play.
Now the Rockies will face the winner of the Red Sox/Indians series.
