Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has completed the first of three planned boat ramp extensions on Lake Martin to allow boating access during drought conditions.
The western ramp at the Kowaliga Bridge facility on Alabama 63 in Elmore County opened on Thursday. It was extended 35 feet.
Extension of the boat ramp at Pace's Point on Tallapoosa County 34 began last week, and it will provide an access point for boaters on the eastern side of the lake.
After completing the Pace's Point extension, workers will extend the second boat ramp at Kowaliga Bridge.
On Sunday, the lake was about 15 feet below normal full pool.
