Tennessee Educator Nominated to Lead Shelton State

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Two-year college Chancellor Bradley Byrne says he will recommend Tennessee educator Mark Heinrich to be the next president of Shelton State Community College.

Byrne says he will make the recommendation to state school board members when they meet next week.

Heinrich currently is dean of education and dean of social sciences at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, where he has been employed for 27 years.

Byrne said his vast experience made him stand out among the 63 applicants for the post at Shelton State, a Tuscaloosa campus beset by financial scandal.
