Undated, AL – The state Department of Education has nominated five Alabama schools for a national Blue Ribbon award this year.
The U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Award honors public and private K-12 schools judged academically superior or have shown dramatic student achievement.
Only 330 schools were nominated out of 133,000 nationwide.
Alabama schools nominated are: Demopolis High, Spain Park High in Hoover, Wrights Mill Road Elementary School in Auburn, Leon Sheffield Magnet Elementary School in Decatur and George Hall Elementary School in Mobile.
The U.S. Department of Education will announce the blue ribbon winners in September 2008.
