Washington, DC – An energy bill passed the House of Representatives with fanfare last week, only to be stalled in the Senate. The ambitious plan is aimed at cutting fossil fuel consumption and promoting renewable energy. Alabama lawmakers fought against a provision that they say would hurt consumers in the South.
