Children's Commissioner Dorrough Has Died

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – A member of Governor Riley's Cabinet has died.

The governor's office announced Wednesday that Richard Dorrough has died after a long battle with cancer. Dorrough served as commissioner of children's affairs.

The governor described Dorrough as a man with a heart of gold who worked hard to improve the lives of children.

Dorrough served as a family court judge in Montgomery County from 1984 until 2005. Riley appointed him that year to run the state Department of Children's Affairs.
