Search for Last Two Bodies Thrown from Bridge Resumes Today

Mobile – A second body was recovered Sunday in the search for four children allegedly thrown from a coastal bridge by their father and the search will resume today.

Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran says the body of a three-year-old boy was found near shore by a search team, close to where a duck hunter found the body of his infant brother about five miles west of the bridge in a marshy area on Saturday.

As helicopters and airplanes searched, airboats shuttled volunteers into the shallow mud-boggy shoreline, with some walking hand-in-hand in a slow stroll, upending logs and probing debris dumped by the high tide. Cochran said the remaining two bodies could be same area or shifted by current nearer the Alabama-Mississippi line.

He encouraged everyone to be on the lookout for the last two bodies, including hunters, fishermen and property owners.

The search for the children, ranging in age from a few months to 3 years, began Tuesday near the mouth of Mobile Bay after prosecutors said the father, 37-year-old Lam Luong of Irvington, confessed to throwing them off the Dauphin Island Bridge into the Mississippi Sound.
