Alabama –
In northern Tuscaloosa County near the town of Samantha, a tornado with maximum wind speeds estimated at 90 miles per hour heavily damaged one home and damaged six others, according to survey crews. There were no injuries.
The two twisters were spawned by a massive storm system that moved through Alabama early yesterday.
In Lowndes County, authorities said search and rescue teams were in the Collirene community to help families trapped in their homes because of flooding. Authorities said all residents were able to safely get out of their trailers.
Powerful winds were blamed for uprooting hundreds of trees and damaging roofs in Clarke, Tuscaloosa, Greene and Talladega and Walker counties.
