Montgomery, AL – Ignorance of the state's ethics code can no longer be an excuse for any two-year college system employee who ends up on the wrong side of the law.
Chancellor Bradley Byrne and Alabama Ethics Commission Director Jim Sumner announced Wednesday that ethics training has been completed for all 10,000 employees in the system.
Sumner says it's the largest training effort the commission has ever done in its 34-year history. He says it's the first time the agency had been asked to train anyone in the two-year college system, which has been the focus of a wide-ranging corruption probe.
More than 100 college presidents and department workers took the training in person while the rest watched an hour-long training DVD.
Employees have to sign a certificate of completion after watching the DVD and it's now a requirement for all new hires.
