Ala. Education Budget In Danger On The Final Day

Montgomery, AL – The state education budget is in danger of not passing on the Legislature's final meeting day.

The Senate has spent most of the day debating the $6.3 billion education budget. The Senate is divided into two factions. One side wants to hold the line on spending and the other wants to add $25 million to the budget for universities.

The two sides have shown no sign of compromising. If a budget is not approved by midnight, the Legislature will have to return in special session.
