Montgomery, AL – Alabama's two-year colleges will not raise tuition for the fall.
State Post-secondary Chancellor Bradley Byrne announced Wednesday that tuition and mandatory fees will remain steady for the fourth straight year.
Byrne said it's tempting to raise tuition with the two-year colleges expecting a budget cut from the Legislature, but now is not the time to do it.
He said most students in the two-year college system are commuters who are dealing with gas prices approaching $4 per gallon and other rising costs.
Taking 15 credit hours for two semesters at a two-year college costs between $2,700 and $3,060, depending on the location.
