Akron, OH – Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. announced today it will spend at least $1 billion annually through 2010 to expand and improve plants around the world.
Goodyear says that includes spending up to $700 million over five years to modernize its American tire plants in Gadsden (Alabama), Fayetteville, North Carolina, Danville, Virginia, and Topeka, Kansas.
Goodyear says it will also focus more on international growth markets such as China, Russia and Brazil. But it also announced it will close its tire plant in Somerton, Australia.
