Alabama Firefighters Helping in California

Birmingham, AL – Some Alabama firefighters are in California helping that state battle wildfires near Big Sur.

Members of the Alabama All-Hazards Incident Management Team that includes Birmingham and Hoover firefighters left Sunday for California.

Alabama Fire College president Allan Rice says Mickey Martin of Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service and Hoover Fire Battalion Chief Frank Brocato, the team's commander, are among the seven state firefighters on the trip.

Others include: Jeff Birdwell and Loyd Brasher of the Madison Fire Department, Mike Trenier, deputy chief of Mobile Fire and Rescue Department, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Captain John Brook, and Don Webster, chief operations officer of the Huntsville Emergency Medical Services Inc.
