Montgomery, AL – The two candidates in the Republican runoff for the 2nd Congressional District are helping bankroll their own campaigns.
Campaign finance reports show state Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery has raised about $1 million, with $650,000 of that coming from personal loans to his campaign.
State Sen. Harri Anne Smith of Slocomb has raised about $878,000, with nearly $374,000 coming from personal loans.
The two meet in a runoff Tuesday to determine who will face the Democratic nominee, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, in the general election on Nov. 4.
