Birmingham, AL – A code orange air quality alert for ozone pollution has been issued for Monday (7/28) for Jefferson and Shelby counties.
That means people with breathing problems and the very young and very old need to be careful when they're outside because it could be hard to breathe.
Authorities are asking people to help reduce pollution by carpooling or taking the bus, combining errands into one trip, postponing unneccessary travel, limiting idling and use of drive thru windows. They also suggest waiting until another day to mow the lawn, don't burn leaves or trash and don't fill the gas tank until after 6 p.m.
