Candidate Pushes for More Energy Exploration

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Republican state Rep. Jay Love has promised to work to increase American energy exploration if he is elected to Congress.

Love is running for Congress in Alabama's 2nd Congressional District. He faces the Democratic Party nominee, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, in the Nov. 4 general election.

Love said he supports ending the federal ban on offshore drilling. He also favors opening up parts of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to energy exploration.

Love made the statements at a news conference Tuesday at Haynes Ambulance Service in Montgomery.

The chief operating officer for Haynes, Kirk Barrett, says the soaring price of gas has increased his company's operating costs by $10,000 per month.
