Alabama Reservist Will Become Brigadier General

By Associated Press

Mobile, AL – An Army Reserve colonel from Baldwin County has been approved for promotion to the rank of one-star general.

The U.S Senate recently confirmed President Bush's nomination of Janet L. Cobb to the rank of brigadier general.

Cobb, a resident of Barnhill, is the former commander of the 1184th Transportation Terminal Battalion in Mobile. The unit set military traffic records for its handling of cargo in Kuwait between 2002 and 2003.

Cobb now heads the Army Reserve's Deployment Support Command in Birmingham.
