President Cancels Huntsville Trip for Economic Concerns

By Associated Press

Washington – The White House says President Bush won't be visiting Alabama today after all.

The president will instead be working with his advisers on the latest challenges facing the U.S. economy.

Bush had been scheduled to tour a waste facility and appear at a fundraiser in Huntsville. Vice President Dick Cheney will attend the fundraiser. Bush had also planned to visit Florida later in the day.

White House spokesman Tony Fratto says the president will continue to work with his economic advisers on problems in the U.S. financial markets. Fratto says the president is focused on stabilizing and strengthening the markets to restore investor confidence.
