Historic Site Honors Tuskegee Airmen

Tuskegee, AL – Gov. Bob Riley and Sen. Jeff Sessions are among those who will speak during the grand opening celebration that kicks off three days of events honoring the Tuskegee Airmen.

The famed black airmen trained at Moton Field during World War II, and the location is being named a National Historic Site. Some of the airmen are expected to return this weekend, visiting the place where they became the first black U.S. military pilots.

The opening ceremony is Friday, and festivities continue throughout the weekend. Visitors to the interpretive site will be able to get a taste of the pilots' daily lives and their experience at Moton Field.
