Former and Current Candidates For Governor Taking Sides On Amendment One

Montgomery, AL – A former candidate for governor and a current candidate for governor are leading the sides for and against Amendment One.

Montgomery businessman Winton Blount III is serving as chairman of the pro-amendment group Alabama Families First 2008. Blount ran for the Republican nomination for governor in 1994 and 1998.

Blount says he's helping Republican Gov. Bob Riley persuade Alabama voters to approve the constitutional amendment on Nov. 4.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim James is speaking across the state in opposition to Amendment One.

James is telling voters that Amendment One is a bailout for Montgomery politicians who like to overspend.
