Fort Payne Police Chief Relieved of Duties

By Associated Press

Fort Payne, AL – Fort Payne Police Chief David Walker has been relieved of his duties.

The Fort Payne City Council voted 3-2 not to reappoint Walker. Monday's vote came shortly after council members were sworn into office.

Critics of Walker's tenure claimed he had mishandled allegations of wrongdoing in the police department.

Michael Grant was named interim chief.
