Montgomery, AL – An Alabama program that helps disadvantaged students stay in school has received national recognition.
The Jobs for Alabama's Graduates program received a national award Thursday from the Jobs for America's Graduates program.
The national program's ``5-of-5 Award'' recognized Alabama for exceeding national graduation rates, job placement goals and the level of students going on to postsecondary education.
State Superintendent of Education Joe Morton said the program identifies students at risk of dropping out of high school and gives them something to work toward.
This is the third consecutive year Alabama has won the national award.
