Mobile, AL – Officials from Alabama's two-year colleges meeting in Mobile will discuss the need for spending cuts in a troubled economy.
The Alabama College Association's annual conference runs through Tuesday.
In his address, Chancellor Bradley Byrne is expected to discuss the potential for budget cuts and a strategy to come out of the recession.
Byrne says he doesn't expect any layoffs or tuition increases, even if Gov. Bob Riley declares proration before the year ends.
More than 1,000 association members -- college presidents and vice presidents, administrators, deans, faculty and staff --- are attending the conference at Mobile's convention center.
Monday's keynote speaker will be Vince Lombardi Jr., the son of the legendary National Football League coach.
