Four Ala. Mayors Back Pickens Energy Plan

By Associated Press

Birmingham, AL – Four Alabama mayors have agreed to support T. Boone Pickens' energy plan.

The Texas oilman has spent million of dollars in recent month promoting wind power for electricity production and natural gas powered cars. 168 mayors across the nation have signed a pledge to support the proposal.

They include Mayors Don Kyle of Decatur; Charles Penhale of Helena; Leon Smith in Oxford and Charles Murphy in Robertsdale.

Pickens said his plan is framed as a blueprint to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil. He wants to present his plans to President-elect Barack Obama after he takes office in January.
