Prattville AL – Prattville police are investigating the theft of $10,000 worth of boa constrictors.
Police Chief Alfred Wadsworth said Friday that a Prattville man reported someone stole 22 Amazon Tree Boas and 21 plastic containers valued at about $90. Jacob Brooks said they were taken from a storage shed behind his home.
Wadsworth said, "We contacted the conservation department and confirmed the snakes aren't poisonous. Since the containers that held the snakes were also stolen, we think this is a legitimate theft case."
Constrictors kill their prey by squeezing.
Brooks said he was breeding the snakes to sell to other hobbyists.
