Washington – Retiring Democratic Congressman Bud Cramer of Huntsville was the only member of Alabama's 7-member House delegation to vote in favor a $14-billion lifeline for the U.S. auto industry.
The much-debated rescue package was approved 237-170 Wednesday night.
It would provide loans to GM and Chrysler.
The legislation is still in jeopardy in the Senate. Alabama Senator Richard Shelby predicts the bill lacked the necessary Republicans to pass the Senate.
