Forcasters Urge Caution on Area Roadways

By Associated Press

Huntsville, AL – Rain showers and light sleet pelted areas in north and northwest Alabama overnight as temperatures across the Tennessee Valley hover below the freezing mark.

National Weather Service meteorologists in Huntsville say black ice and slick spots likely are possible during the Friday morning commute.

The affected counties are: Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Lauderdale, Limestone, Jackson and DeKalb counties.

Drivers are urged to use extra caution, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The wintry precipitation also prompted numerous school systems to cancel classes or open late.
