Former Gov. Hunt Transferred To Nursing Facility

Birmingham, AL – Former Alabama Gov. Guy Hunt has improved enough to be moved to a private nursing facility in Birmingham.

A spokesman for Hunt's family, Mark McDaniel, said the 75-year-old former governor was moved from a Birmingham hospital Friday. Hunt had been hospitalized since having gall bladder surgery in late November. He developed pneumonia in December, but McDaniel said Hunt overcome that.

Hunt has been battling cancer for several years. He served as governor from 1987-1993.
