Davis Panel Makes U.S. Attorney Choices

Birmingham, AL – A panel advising U.S. Rep. Artur Davis on U.S. attorney appointments for the new Democratic administration has made its recommendations.

Davis said he will forward the recommendations to President-elect Barack Obama with his endorsement.

In the Northern District, the panel recommended Joyce Vance, the chief of the appeals section for that Birmingham office. Jim Sturdivant, a former assistant U.S. attorney, was the panel's second choice.

Michel Nicrosi, a former assistant U.S. attorney in Mobile, was recommended for the Middle District in Montgomery, followed by attorney Joseph Van Heest

In Mobile, the panel recommended Vicki Davis, an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District, with former U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Sims the second choice.
