Montgomery, AL – The state Department of Revenue is warning people about an e-mail scam that tells taxpayers they are due an Alabama income tax refund.
Taxpayers are asked to click on a link provided in the e-mail and complete a ``refund form.'' Revenue officials advised residents Wednesday not to reply if they receive an e-mail from someone claiming to represent the department and seeking personal or financial information.
The department said it does not send unsolicited e-mails concerning tax information.
It also warned against providing personal or financial information such as bank account numbers, credit card PIN numbers or passwords.
