Birmingham, AL – Remnants of the big snow storm that hit central Alabama are causing travel problems.
Numerous wrecks occurred in metro Birmingham on Monday morning as commuters headed to work. Most of the snow from Sunday's storm was gone, there were enough slick spots on bridges and elevated roadways to make travel dangerous in places.
Several school systems in east Alabama delayed opening by two hours to give the ice a chance to melt away.
Forecasters say afternoon temperatures would rise into the mid-40s, but lows in the 20s are expected again Monday night.
