Friends, Family Remember Ala. Bluesman Willie King

Aliceville, AL – Willie King gained fame singing the blues, but not many tears were shed at his funeral.

Friends and family filled the Aliceville City Hall on Sunday to celebrate the life of the 65-year-old blues artist.

King's daughter, Ayeshah King, said her father was never consumed by fortune or fame. He always put others before himself.

King's song ``I Am the Blues'' opened and closed the funeral.

King was raised by his sharecropper grandparents in west Alabama, but his music took him to major blues festivals in America and Europe. He died March 8.
