Birmingham, AL – U.S. Rep. Artur Davis is laying out a comprehensive ethics proposal that would ban lobbyists from entertaining state officials. It also would limit campaign contributions to state political candidates, and end the shuffling of money between political action committees.
Davis, a Democratic candidate for governor, says Alabama has one of the nation's weakest ethics laws. He says stricter ethical standards for public officials will help restore public confidence in state government.
The executive director of the State Ethics Commission, Jim Sumner, says he's very pleased with Davis' proposals.
