Hoover Mayor Considering Run For Governor

Montgomery, AL – Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos says he is considering running for governor of Alabama in 2010.

Petelos told The Associated Press Wednesday he has been talking to people across the state about entering the race for the Republican nomination. The 55-year-old two-term mayor and former state legislator said he plans to make a decision before candidates are allowed to begin fund raising on June 1.

Petelos also served as commissioner of the Alabama Department of Human Resources under Republican Gov. Fob James and Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman.

Petelos said a number of people have asked him to consider entering the race. He said he has not formed a campaign committee or taken any official action.
