Montgomery, AL – Some key legislators say they may pass a resolution later this week to have the Retirement Systems of Alabama do a detailed financial study of the prepaid college tuition plan.
Senate Budget Committee Chairman Roger Bedford of Russellville says that will provide needed information on how big the problems are.
State Treasurer Kay Ivey says that's not enough. Ivey is the leader of the board that oversees the plan. She says the tuition plan needs an infusion of cash.
Some bills were introduced in the Legislature to do that, but none has passed so far. The Legislature has only two meeting days left.
