Montgomery, AL – Gov. Bob Riley has signed a bill that prevents convicted sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of a college or university.
The new law signed Monday also prevents sex offenders from loitering near school bus stops and within 500 yards of colleges and universities.
Convicted sex offenders aren't barred from attending a college or university, but they will not be allowed to live on campus.
The previous law had prohibited sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of high schools or elementary schools and the change expands it to cover more campuses.
