Auburn, AL – Alabama transportation officials will move about 50 mobile home residents out of the path of a planned Interstate 85 interchange in south Auburn.
The Alabama Department of Transportation is paying to relocate the residents at Windover Farm Mobile Home Park. Division engineer DeJarvis Leonard says relocating the residents could take a few months.
Dawson Lucas and his sister will have to move from a rented mobile home. He's worried about finding another place they can afford in Auburn. He says the state payment to relocate only covers three months rent.
Exit 50, or the Beehive Road exit, will provide convenient access to Auburn's newest industrial park. The cost of the interchange is estimated at about $23 million and is set to be bid in November.
